Our Story

Hi, I'm Hazel - the face behind Style Anthology.

I've spent the last decade working in banking, my most recent role was as a team manager for the Client Services team with thirteen direct reports. As a subject matter expert in 'Anti-Money-Laundering compliance', my day to day was often stressful - particularly when trying to problem solve complaints from high value corporate clients.

Not surprisingly, I spent a lot of my workday dreaming about doing something different, so despite so many companies undergoing restructures and redundancies. I quit a perfectly stable six figure income to try something different. My husband still thinks I'm a little crazy for doing so - but you don't get anywhere without taking a little risk.

I've loved second-hand shopping for as long as I can remember, even before it was 'cool', I was rifling the shelves of Sallies looking for brands that I couldn't afford to buy new. I wanted to bring that joy of second-hand shopping to time poor women who don't necessarily have time to filter through shops - by opening a space that felt like a boutique in Bali or Byron Bay.

Where did the name come from?

Many years ago I read two similar novels that had underlying themes of women with clothes that told stories - one was a women who visited her Aunt's vintage clothing store and these stories were hidden in the pockets.

These stories stuck with me - and is how I came up with the name Style Anthology - I wanted to create a similar space, where clothes could tell their stories.

When you consign your clothes with Style Anthology, you're encouraged to write a postcard telling the story of a moment in time that you shared with your item of clothing.

Why the bohemian theme?

I spotted that there were a lot of secondhand clothing shops opening up around the country - people are more aware than ever of the implications of fast fashion.

However, I really wanted to niche down to women who are like myself, interested in finding out more about themselves. Interested in travel, gardening and making a better life for their families and the planet.

The hope is, long term - we won't just be a clothing shop, but a community of women supporting one another with events and similar hosted in the space.

Dream big ... you deserve to have a life you love.
